I hike a 5.5 mile trail in the Ozark Mountains several times a week. The terrain is very rocky and steep at some places. I would have to be super careful of my footing with regular shoes and talk about the twisting ankles...
I tried these out today and I got to ENJOY my hike. Not only did I have excellent traction and my ankles did not twist, I felt like the tread were like tires. I barely slipped once going down a hill but for the the rest of the hike, I felt amazing about my footing. I noticed more of the beauty around me other than looking where I was stepping. I received these as a gift, and so far, I love them! I live in Northern NH (30 minutes north of Mt. Washington) so I am lucky to have hiking trails all around me! I began hiking with friends over this past summer, and was looking for a decent all around hiking boot that would be a good compliment to spring, summer, and fall in the mountains.
I am a women's size 8, however I have a narrow foot. I ordered these in an 8.5 women's, because I wanted the extra room for thick socks in the colder weather. They definitely run true to size! I have just enough wiggle room in them, so I am pleased with the extra sizing. I do however believe they would be a perfect fit had I gotten the size 8, but probably still too wide for my narrow feet.
I've worn them a handful of times, and they have been great so far. In below 0 degree weather this weekend up here in the mountains they kept my feet toasty warm! They have wonderful traction and grip as well, and do not feel heavy...

I love these shoes have had them for a month and they have gone through lots of hiking and yard work. They are great and so worth the $35. I only buy Nevados so finding them for this price I swear my heart stopped. Just get them even if you don't like the color so worth it.
