I Really Like these
Wow - what a difference between these and my cheap older hiking boots which always hurt me. I took a 2 hour walk in these boots without breaking them in and the last thing I had to worry about was my feet hurting. These are so comfortable and being lightweight they are great for long treks or even for wearing everyday. They are waterproof and have a great traction sole and the styling won't make you look like a lumberjack.
I know boots are expensive these days - resist the temptation to buy something inferior and get the best fitting pair of boots you can afford. These should last a long enjoyable time.

My dog loves his new runners
I purchased these boots, a collar and matching leash along with a float coat for my dog, all the items fit great and are very good quality. My springer appreciates the finer things in life and he loves to look good in his Ruffwear on the street, in the field, or in the water. He gets compliments wherever he goes. When I opened the box and he seen the boots he went crazy. I managed to get the front two on and had to let him run around for a while and burn off some energy, then I got one back boot on and again he went crazy and had to run around for another 5 minutes once I got the 4th boot on I had to make a video of him he was so happy. He could "squeal" going around the corners on the wood floor in the house, that is way more fun and you know the boots must be grippy. These boots are great and do not flip upside down like cheaper ones we have had. We used the sizing chart and it was a perfect fit.


Good but...
Thessefit and worked well for my dog, but even with the liners they rubbed his feet raw. I really liked them because they were very easy to put on and looked great. Unfortunately we have gone back to his old shoes which take two people to put on, but don't hurt his feet.

I'm a huge fan of Thorlo socks. They fit extremely well and are thus extremely comfortable. I prefer to wear boat type shoe as the Throlo provides all the support I need and the combination is great for all kinds of outdoor activity, from work to shopping.

I bought my first pair 8 yrs ago and they are still going strong.

The light hiker is best with light type open shoe for non vigorous activity. You can also substiute these for slippers although on a smooth floor they can be somewhat slippery (the regular hikers are the best slipper substitutes though).

My only wish is that they had more color variety.

These are wonderful supportive socks, that will make sure that your feet stay dry, while not getting any blisters anywhere. I have several pairs from different years and my husband uses the running sock from Thorlo, which is also great. These are much better than your average wool walking sock or your cotton sport sock. Vasque has lost it's standing as a legitimate hiking boot!
I've owned Vasque boots for the past 15 years. I've ruined 2 pair and have 1 pair that is still in good condition. When these boots were manufactured in Italy they were hands down the best pair of hiking/backpacking boots I've owned. When the company was bought out and manufacturing shipped to China the quality disappeared. 1 of the two pair i ruined was a Chinese made pair of Sundowners. They lasted less than two years and fell apart (ripped and soles seperated. I then purchased a pair of slightly used Italian made Vasque boots that I wore for 6 and a half years straight 5 days per week. I finally wore the soles off those boots and had to retire them. Vasque is simply no longer the manufacturer they were in those days.

So as for the review of this boot. You hear the above frequently from past Vasque owners but they tend not to explain why. So here goes. The reason loyal users are so upset is that the craftsmanship of these boots is so greatly inferior to what we were used...


Great boots
These are my second pair. The first pair lasted 4 years wearing them everyday. The reason I had to buy another pair I had worn the sole down until I had holes in them. These are the most comfortable shoe I have ever put on and will be the only boots I buy from now own. The first pair cost 199, the second pair I found on amazon for 139 and they are worth evey cent.

Pros-Leather is very nice, plush, high volume, good gripping outsole, easy break in.

Cons-Made in China, thick outsole that is not the most stable while standing, not a full gore-tex boot.

Bought these because I thought they were made in USA and had a good price here at Amazon. Even though they use Red Wing leather the boot is constructed in China. A no-no for me. Vasque sold their soul when they moved production of possibly one of the best boots ever made-Sundowners-out of Italy. The new Sundowners are not even close to the old ones. I'm a boot whore and I have about 12 pair etc.

Overall quality is good. Leather is very good. Vibram outsole is very thick lending itself to be a little "tippsy" when standing. Not as sure footed as say a LaSportiva Karakorum or Zamberlan Civetta etc. Not unstable but not super stable. Gore-Tex liner ends at the footbed. High quality Gore-Tex boots use the full Gore-Tex bootie. Maybe not a huge deal just a little...

Moderate trail hiker
With a lacing system that is super easy to adjust and Lowa's C4 construction you get one of the best fitting shoes out there. The assymetrical padding and attention to detail allows for a firm fit that feels just right the minute you put them on. The colors to choose from are unique and the green isn't something you especially see offered on a shoe in this category. They're also made in Slovakia which means 95% of Lowa's manufacturing stays in Europe- no China and better wages for there workers. Sounds like a win to me.
I own several pairs of other top quality boots including a few Zamberlans. Since I already have a few bomb proof heavy duty backpacking boots I picked these for light duty; easy trails, moderate climbs and short walks. I found these shoes to be exceptionally comfortable. So comfortable in fact as I'd say they're more Uggs than rugged outdoor footwear as they favor comfort over all out performance. If that's a trade your willing to make, you won't be dissapointed...


Great boot....while it lasts!
Out of the box, these were the lightest and most comfortable boots that I had ever owned. I would have rated them five stars. Although they were expensive, I figured that a boot, from a quality company such as Lowa, would justify its cost by lasting three or four years. WRONG!

After a couple of months, my feet started getting wet when it rained. I thought the Gore-Tex had worn through, but the strange thing was that only the soles of my socks were getting wet. Upon closer examination, I found that the Vibram sole was starting to wear through at the heel and mid-feet, exposing the foam mid-sole, and allowing water to enter through the bottom of the boots. It turns out that this Vibram sole is either too thin or too soft to provide any sort of longevity to this boot.

After six months of casual use (about 200 miles of light day hiking), the soles are completely worn through! If the boots had failed because of rough use, I could accept it. I believe that these...


Comfortable and sturdy hiking boot.
I'm out 2 to 4 times a week birding and trail mountain climbing. Depending on terrain, weather, and miles I'll wear Solomon Gortex trail shoes or Keen Targhee lightweight hiking boots. It was raining the last time I wore my Keens (two years old) and my feet got soaking wet and cold. I decided I had had it with sock type hiking boots and ordered the Lowa Renegade II GTX boots from Amazon, based primarily on waterproof, all-leather, and lightweight characteristics. I was worried about some of the comments about the boot being too narrow. When I put them on, wow, what a comfortable fit! With no breaking in, I wore them on a 6-mile hike up and back a mountain, and everything was perfect - no rubbing, no slipping going downhill, great traction, great support on rough terrain. These boots are so good, I now wear them on easy hikes, where previously, I used my Solomon trail shoes. Note: not appropriate for backpacking over rough trail or mountaineering.

Revivex water repellant for shoes is the best product I've ever used for waterproofing and I've used a few over the years. I bought my first bottle in a outfitters store. I used it on a pair a hiking boots that my son was going to wear on an away school trip that included hiking. Rainy weather was called for all weekend. I applied Revivex to the boots saturating them and then letting them dry. My son told me that the boots never even became wet! His feet stayed dry and warm the whole time! Yeaa Revivex! I won't buy any other product for our waterproofing needs again. I've also used it on my daughters well worn Ugg boots. She brought them camping and you know how shoes can become soggy from the morning dew around the campsite. After treating her Uggs they never became wet and her feet stayed dry. No more having to dry out the boots by the fire every night! It works wonderfully on the fabric as well as the suede parts of the boots and does not change the appearance at all or...


FOLLOW DIRECTIONS
There was enough in this bottle to saturate a pair of knee high suede boots and 2 pairs of suede loafers. It works great if you follow the directions and saturate the suede, don't just spritz it on. It dries quickly, doesn't discolor the suede and really waterproofs. I'll say again for those who complained of poor performance, follow the directions.


Not bad, but not recommended on gray
This didn't discolor tan or black suede, but it did make 2 pairs of gray suede darker. I have a lovely new pair of gray suede heels, and I feel like the spray made the suede look "cheaper" and darker, but I wouldn't say it ruined them. I'll still wear them, but I feel like they looked better before using the spray. I did test it on the back of a heel first, and it didn't seem to make much of a difference in color, so I sprayed the whole shoe to find it did make a difference... so I'm not sure "testing" really proves much.

I sprayed a pair of gray suede Sperrys (slightly different quality of suede), and while they looked a bit darker, I actually preferred them that way. The suede didn't feel different afterward like they did for my gray heels. I'm not sure what "kind" of suede has this effect (are there different "kinds" of suede?).

I sprayed 5 pairs of shoes yesterday and I wore the gray Sperrys today. It happened to rain, and the spray seemed to do its job...

Great Product
I bought two of these Dry Guy Boot Dryers and have been very happy with their performance. I play a lot of sports, and in the summer especially my shoes become drenched with sweat. Without a dryer it would take several days for my shoes to dry completely, and as a result I was always playing in wet stinky shoes -- even though I was rotating 3 or 4 pairs (I play a lot!). Now after I get off the court I stick them on the Boot Dryer and after 3 - 6 hours they are usually totally dry, and ready for my next game. I can't imagine how I got by without a dryer before. I do have a few suggestions for changes that would make this a 5 star product. First, the timer has a max setting of around 3 hours. For damp shoes this is okay, but for soaked shoes, like mine usually get, 3 hours is not enough time, so I find myself having to reset the timer to get them completely dry. It is a bit of a hassle, especially at night when I am not awake to reset the timer. A simple on/off switch would be a great...


Surfing Booties
I've used the DryGuy for about a month to dry my surfing booties that always seemed to smell like week old road kill. I first tried a shoe dryer that does not have a fan but works by convection and that seemed to create the perfect environment for stinky bacteria. So far, DryGuy has worked great - though I can't find my booties by smell any more. One caveat though, the heater is not so strong that it will dry your booties quickly in a cold garage so it is much more effective if used indoors.

Update: 5 years later 2013 - Everything I said before. DryGuy is still going strong. Kids are older now, but now after going in the snow they put their own boots and gloves on it. The waterproof gloves that you can't get the inside dry using the dryer, this also works well on those too. The dry guy is simply that appliance you never knew you needed. Awesome!

Feb 2008 Review:
I have two kids 5 & 7 in New England. After we had our January thaw I knew I needed to do something. Both my kids have two pairs of snow boots that are "mostly" water proof, except when it comes to total submersion in puddles. After a few days of thaw both sets of boots were wet. And since they are mostly water proof I couldn't dry them out overnight, and that was even after letting them sit on the radiator. I'm a huge fan of Thorlo socks. They fit extremely well and are thus extremely comfortable. I prefer to wear boat type shoe as the Throlo provides all the support I need and the combination is great for all kinds of outdoor activity, from work to shopping.

I bought my first pair 8 yrs ago and they are still going strong.

The light hiker is best with light type open shoe for non vigorous activity. You can also substiute these for slippers although on a smooth floor they can be somewhat slippery (the regular hikers are the best slipper substitutes though).

My only wish is that they had more color variety.

These are wonderful supportive socks, that will make sure that your feet stay dry, while not getting any blisters anywhere. I have several pairs from different years and my husband uses the running sock from Thorlo, which is also great. These are much better than your average wool walking sock or your cotton sport sock. They might seem more expensive, but the quality is absolutely worth it!

If you do walking/hiking on dirt, rocks, and or gravel, these socks help. They really do cushion your feet from feeling the rocks or gravel, and do therefore let you walk more comfortably. I know they seem a bit expensive, but I feel they are well worth the money.

Very good boot
I love these boots - very comfortable toe box, first boot to really fit me in that area. Very stable, very good on rock, not too heavy but substantial feeling. I'm thinking of buying another pair just in case they aren't available when I wear these out. I'm a lifelong hiker, mountaineer and backpacker. Not an expert in anything but my own feet, and my feet like these!


Best boots I ever owned
I got these boots for hiking and I wanted to get a head start on winter this year. I've owned many types of boots all leather none of them fit like these Keens. The first day I got them they fit like a glove and ankle protection is there also. I've had basketball shoes that didn't feel as nice as these boots from the sole to the uppers all around great boots. They also allow your feet to breathe I have not had a chance to get in the water with them yet but if there is any problems with that I just get some Kiwi waterproofing for them.


Happy wide feet
I have wide feet and looked for a boot that I could use on short backpacking trips and day hikes. These were it for me. After trying on over 30 boots in over a month I decided to go with these and they have not disappointing me yet. They are very light for their size and seem to be constructed fairly well. Also the almost broken in feeling is yet another great feature about these boots. The only issue would be that the bottom of the boots are starting to wear off, maybe not the best life expectancy. Would recommend them if you are a weekend warrior and walk/hike no more than 15-20 times a year.

Perfect (for me)
Straight out the box this boot was the most comfortable boot I have owned. I was introduced to Keen about a year ago and never looked back. This pair of boots just took my love of Keen to the next level, especially on materials used. Here's a few things to consider before you buy:

This is a MODERATE level hiking boot. It probably wouldn't hold up for backpacking. Then again, that's not what it's advertised as.

This boot is WARM. I don't know if I would recommend it for the summer season.

This boot is WIDE. All Keens are made wider that the average shoe/boot, and this is no exception. As a guide, I wear a 15 EEEE, and these (size 15) fit PERFECTLY. Consider yourself warned if the you have narrow feet.

Uncomfortable due to a design flaw
I love new balance shoes, as far as sneakers and running shoes go its the only brand I will buy. WIth that said I had very high hopes for this boot. I was looking for an every day winter boot that would be comfortable and warm in cold conditions (camping, snow, out door activities), this boot looked like it fit the bill perfectly. The big issue with it and the reason why I ultimately returned them is that there is a hard seam where the upper high top section of the boot is sewn to the lover section of the boot, and it is right at ankle height. I tried these boots on with winter socks and thick wool hiking socks and they were still too uncomfortable. I can't imagine that anyone would be able to look by that issue and keep the boots.


Badly engineered
My last 3 pairs of New Balance shoes ran to small. My last pair I ordered 1 size larger and they were to tight to be confortable and would not stretch out. Goodwill got those. So this time I ordered a size 11.5 for my size 10 feet. The tongue is stationary and not designed for the human foot, not the foot of the wide footed people who wear this brand for the wide widths anyway. I refuse to grease my socks, so these were returned. PS: The sole is made to track as much of your yard into your house as you can. Bonus!


Top notch--well made, comfortable, perfect for winter--buy a size smaller
These boots are top notch, the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. The inner sole of the boots are made by Vibram and they are extremely comfortable. The stitching is solid. The outer soles are very thick with great grip on the bottoms. The strings are thick and high quality.

The only annoying thing about them is that the top 2 notches for the strings are the little arms that you have to wrap nudge the string through every time you put them on but I suppose that's typical of most boots and it's not that big of a deal. That's just the only thing I don't like about them so I wanted to add that to the review.

Wearing these almost feels like sneakers--that's how comfortable they are. The first time I wore them, my sister-in-law said, "Wow, those are really nice boots. I bet they were $180 or $200." And I said, "Nope, they were about $100 on Amazon." Trust me, my sis-in-law is no big fan of mine so for her to say that she had to have been very impressed by them...

Nice knife
This knife has a good weight and feel. It is a little small, but that is good for a knife that will be concealed in a boot. The guard is barely wider than the sheath and not as wide as my hand when holding it. The balance point is just below the guard, if that matters to you.
The blade is black, which makes for easier stealth. It was already sharpened when it arrived, not razor sharp, but sharp enough.
The sheath is thick and solid, which is a good thing since you don't want the knife cutting right through it. The snap for the strap that holds the knife in is easy to undo with your thumb. Moving the strap out of the way with your thumb to pull the knife out one handed may take a little getting used to. But it is easier than some knives I have used. The clip on the sheath is solid and strong. Though I would have preferred it up higher so the knife sits farther down in the boot. But then you would have to reach further into your boot to release it.

I think this is an excellent knife, particularly for the price. A little on the large side for a boot knife, but it does fit nicely over/under the waistband.
As mentioned, I have owned three of these knives so far..the first two were sold by Amazon directly. Really surprising, nice finish, good edge right out of the box..the third, not so much.
The last one was from an Amazon supplier called "NORAM INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS, LTD"
It arrived unboxed (in a non-sealed plastic bag) the black coating on the blade was the antithesis of "nice." Remember the black crinkle paint everyone used to squirt on their engine parts back in the seventies? That's what this blade looks like it was finished with..to add insult to injury, it's got an edge that feels like it was laid on with a bench grinder, and there's "crinkle paint" overspray on the handle.
Methinks I got a counterfeit, no friggin' WAY this thing could have gotten by quality control at a real manufacturer..
Anyway...

Solid choice for lightweight boot
Hey Everybody. Want to give my thoughts on the Vasque GTX 2.0 hiking boot.
I'm a big Vasque fan and own a pair of their backpacking boots which after putting around 400 miles on them over some tough terrain, I have to say they are the best that I've ever owned. But, it's time to replace and was hoping for something a little lighter, thus the 2.0 GTXs come into play.

Size: I almost always wear a size 11, probably at least 90% of the time, but maybe I'm a tweener. I started off ordering an 11 and my toes bumped horribly even with crew socks. So, unless you're sure that you run on the small side of a size, try to find a place to try them on first. I had them replaced with a 11.5 and they fit better. It seemed that the width was a little narrow, but after a couple weekend hikes, they have either broken in or I've quit noticing.

Arc Tempo: The Arc Tempo kind of tilts your foot forward giving you a little momentum into your next step. Ok, I like it, but I...


Great pair of boots
As many others have mentioned, these boots tend to run a bit small. I normally wear a 10, but I ordered these in 10.5 and they fit perfectly. I bought these to wear just for hiking, but they're so comfortable that I may end up wearing them all of the time. There was almost no break in period for these boots and they offer great ankle support. I may have to get a second pair.


Vasque Boots - many more happy miles
It is a tragedy but you cannot buy Vasque boots in the UK; but ordering from the U.S. was straightforward and the delivery was excellent in terms of timing and quality. Why go to the trouble of shipping boots from the U.S.?

I have replaced a pair of Vasque Men's Breeze GTX with these Breeze 2.0 GTX boots and I am delighted. They are astonishingly light, highly waterproof, well ventilated in summer and warm in winter. As always some good thick hiking socks are essential and then they give excellent comfort. The sole and lining are good for any ground type. The 2.0 GTX has a more rugged rubber exterior toe cap and heel plate which will help in more rocky / rugged locations but these boots trudge happily through British lowland mud and fields week-in week-out for years (my old pair is completely intact externally, but I have worn them through inside after around 2,000 miles!) Really Comfortable Shoe!
I finally wore these around last week for the first time. The soft shell material is extremely comfortable and molds to your foot. The quick draw nylon lace is also really functional for getting the shoes on and off. They are lightweight, fit well and held up in the rain better than I thought they would. Its not a waterproof shoe but the material repels water like a soft shell jacket would. Good shoe.

Sizes seem to run small
I really liked these boots ,the laces are the best. However they did not fit me even though they were the correct size. Fortunately they fit my son. I ordered another pair in the next size up. They fit better but are tight in width. i am keeping them and expect them to loosen up a bit after wearing.

I never write reviews ever... I always felt like I did not want to waiste my time. However I realized after spending hours and days of serching for the perfect hiking boots, how important reviews are to help one find the right boot.

I live in the rocky mountains of montana and needed a top level boot. I have serched and tryed a ton of brands, and I must say... vasque Rules!

I use to own the original zephers before vasque re did them and messed them up. I needed something to replace my vasque zephers, I hiked all over Iceland and montana in snow, mountains and volcanic rock with my 1st pair and they were amazing. So I figured... why not come back to vasque for a new pair of boots since almost every other brand i have tryed besides merrill have felt crappy to me.

I just got the breeze gtx in the mail and have not hiked in them yet, but have worn them around were I live. They feel even better than my 1st pair of zephers. They do not need to be broken in...

Truly excllent hiking boots.. Vasque Breeze rocks!
I have now used my new Vasque Breeze GTX (Goretex lined) hiking boots on two challenging day hikes in the White Mountains (NH) and Baxter State Park (ME) and a weekend backpack in the Bigelow Preserve near Sugarloaf. Since all of these 'field tests' took place in New England, the conditions varied from dry to damp to the snow & ice of this past weekend. These boots are very comfortable and provided good grip in all conditions. You can hike in them with confidence and comfort. They are very breathable, as my feet stayed dry even as I hiked strong and when I stepped into some mud or water, not one drop penetrated. Prior to these hiking boots, I had been addicted to Merrills and thought that would be my boot company forever. Well, Vasque has pushed Merrill aside. You will be pleased with the Vasque Breeze. So comfortable
I discovered these boots in a high priced Camping/outdoor shop. After trying them on I knew I wanted them but was not willing to pay the extreme high price. When I found them on Amazon for less than half the price of the local retailer I just had to buy them. These boots are so comfortable and supportive. I wore them constantly when on holidays in Scotland and I never had sore feet after 12 hours/day every day for 3 weeks. There is room for orthotics if needed and the inner sole is cushioned. They almost propel you when walking which makes movement easy and smooth. The soles have great grip making you feel secure when walking on gravel or loose surfaces.
The shoes themselves are well made and waterproof/repellant keeping feet dry.
I would definately buy this product again.

They are very much like the boots I had several years ago that I loved very much; I'm very glad I bought them & am very thankful they are just like the boots I lost!!! If you are looking for winter boots or hiking boots these are the boots for you!!! They do very well in snow & climbing up mountain trails!!! They have a waffle traction which is great for not slipping on mountain trails & ice!!!

I got a pair of these for myself and husband for a trip to Alaska. We needed waterproof and comfort. These boots met our needs. We arrived in Ketchikan to rain and pretty much had rain/wet the entire week. Our feet stayed warm and dry the entire trip. The boots were comfortable right out of the box and were much lighter in weight than other non-waterproof boots I had. I didn't test the waterproofing in anything over 1 1/2 inches of steping in water which were puddles and constant rain. I don't know what would happen if you needed to spend your entire day in 1 1/2 inches or more of water. I do highly recommend them. They were also easy to clean off.

Nice Boot - Runs Small
I ordered these boots for my son (11), who is going on a backpacking trip with Boy Scouts in a month, because they are waterproof, look good, and are well priced. I was happy when they arrived because they looked well made and sturdy. However, when my son tried them on, his big toes touched the front of the shoe. I ordered them in his correct size, 4.5. About 2 weeks ago, I bought him 2 pairs of sneakers in that size: Nike and Tony Hawk. We measured his feet at the time. Both pairs still fit fine, with room to spare in the front. So I know 4.5 is his correct size. I returned these and ordered a 1/2 size larger (size 5). They are perfect! My son really likes them, too. He wore them to a week of Boy Scout overnight camp (that included hiking), a week of day camp (that included LONG hikes), and on a short Boy Scout backpacking trip. The insides got wet when he walked in the river, but he told me that the water sloshed over the tops, so I do not know if they are really...


A bit hard to break in, but good value overall, GREAT PERFORMANCE
I used these boots to hike the Way of St. James (5 day hike, over 70 miles of rough terrain). I am a woman size 6 (generally corresponds to Big Kid size 4). I could definitely have used a size bigger.

I found these boots to be an EXCELLENT value for the prize. They felt ultralight, they are trully waterproof (I used them several consecutive days of nasty weather), they offer great support for your ankle, and the sole gives you very decent protection without making you feel like Big Foot.

On the not so hot side, the size running a tad smaller than usual, plus the rubber reinforcement of the toes making it a bit harder to break in that it normally would. NOW,after over 100 miles on them, they feel like a glove.

Overall, two thumbs up. Performance comparable to the higher end range of hiking boots (true and tested in harsh conditions), just account for tight sizing when you order yours.


Qualty Youth Hiking Boots
I bought these boots for my daughter to wear while hiking and backpacking. The construction is very good and they have held up very well. They are not terribly heavy and my daughter does not complain about wearing them for long periods of time, now that they are broken in. Like all traditional hiking boots these need to be broken in as they are very stiff out of the box. I had my daughter wear them to school for several days and then over the weekend as well before we took them out real hiking. Now they are great.
